Museums of History and Ethnograhpy Research

Research

The Research department comprises a cadre of historians and anthropologists who are engaged in the study of the materials of Jamaica ’s cultural history.

Through academic publications, conferences and exhibitions, the research team disseminates information garnered through their research.

The Research Team has competencies in all areas and their relevance to Jamaica ’s contemporary life. The team is comprised as follows:

Curator: The Curator guides research and oversees both the temporary and permanent exhibitions

Assistant Curators: Carry out research and assist with maintenance of temporary and permanent exhibitions.

Curatorial Assistants: Assist visitors to interpret exhibitions and provide general information pertaining to them; provide on-site assistance with exhibition maintenance at each of the museums.

Visiting Curators are invited periodically to work on special exhibitions and programmes
